'SUMMER' with Maja Design

Hello my friends,
this is my final Saturday guest designing for
Maja Design
today I have a layout created with 'Life By The Sea' collection .
These papers have such a summery/ nautical feel and I had the perfect pic of my 'Grandie' with her two friends, all ready to go boating.

'SUMMER'
Rarely do I use a patterned paper for my foundation, but for this particular creation I feel it really works and adds to the nautical theme
My photo is always so important to me .
I like to make it the focus on my creations, and blend in the colors and surrounds with the emotion and memories attached to my photo.
I use Black and White photos when I feel the colors don't blend in with my papers of choice.
Creating banners are fun and this one is made up of tags, hearts and strips. The thick cotton mimics the ropes used when sailing .
Above is a closie of my tags and heart .
I love to include the title somewhere interesting, my choice here is to write it on my tag.
A cluster of tags here, with lots of layering.
The top tag has a Tim Holtz metal piece and a Prima metal number 3.
In order to balance out my design I wanted something simple and small to fill this corner.
I simply cut a circle and two thin strips which I tucked around the circle,  securing them with some decorative brads ...
The metal circle in the centre, is something I have had for years and at last I found the perfect place for it .....sometimes I buy elements because I love them and it takes me ages to use them ... can anyone else relate to this ??

Maja Design collections : Life by the Sea / Landmark, Navigate, Regatta, the east coast, Bottle message .  Fika/ Bulle m Blabar ..(the heart and the large tag )

other materials used . 2Crafty chipboard, Tim Holtz metal/film strip, Prima Metal number, Prima stamps ,Tim Holtz Stamp, versa color ink , thick cotton .BoBunny brads, gesso.

Sharing another layout I created  with Maja Design Collections,

Life by the sea

'UNFORGETTABLE'
above is a layout I created for CSI/2Crafty in early August.
I had fun with lots of gesso and layering.
the collection Life by the Sea suggests a nautical energy and I wanted to use this photo of one of our many sailing adventures.
to me the ocean is made up of many layers and frothy white waves, which I re-created by swiping white gesso over the paper.

adding twine mimics the ropes used on sail boats and the muslin represents the waves. white gesso reminds me of the fluffy white clouds and the sails .

this is my final Saturday as a GD for MajaDesign.
a month of guest designing here has been a wonderful and exciting journey .

huge thanks to all of you x

'TREASURE THESE MEMORIES'
I  created a mini collage of papers at the top of my layout .
I began with a 2 inch strip, added a border punched strip, finished off with an even thinner strip of paper
which I machine stitched these together with black cotton.
Adding more layers with chipboard, blooms and diecuts .

peeping out among the blooms are two pieces of 2Crafty Chippies

the mini frame and the dandelion .
These Christmas papers have a dominant red , but on the back side
they are soft grey as pictured below .

girlanger and julklappar
I combined the Vintage Summer collection with a couple of Christmas papers
These collections blend and mix together perfectly.
Thanks for looking and I am hoping you are inspired by these beautiful papers.

MEGS GARDEN AND CSI case file #85

Stacks of happy Hues
Hello everyone , I am back with you again after being away on a short break from
I’ve certainly missed creating with these glorious papers .
Today I am showcasing a card with stacked embellishments ..Denise has designed these papers  to blend and flow together perfectly .

Process
1. My base is a deep purple cardstock which I cut into 12” x 6” and folded in half .
2. Cut another piece of cardstock slightly smaller than 6” x 6” , to create my front cover.
3. I adhered the Christmas paper to the card and stitched around the edge .
4. Beginning with a Tim Holtz Die cut I mounted that onto my base piece. I used various Sizzix dies and began layering them . I included some cardstock to bring out the richness in the papers along with kraft  for contrast .
5. I completed my cluster with a bloom and two leaves .
6. The inside is embellished with a border punched piece on the left side and some washi tape on the right. Finished off with a tiny strip of paper and a tab folded around the edge of the card. Use a stamp if you desire .
Handy tip
Sometimes with this technique only tiny sections of the pieces can be seen but this adds to the magical appeal.  In my opinion embellishing the inside really completes a card with style.
These are such quick and easy cards with lots of dimension and texture.
