reminded me of one of Dad’s sisters.
Auntie Phylis was born in the early 1900’s
and was an air-hostess with the airlines.
Back in those days it was essential for the girls
to look their best at all times .
Aunty Phil was always beautifully groomed
 and Dressed to the 9’s.
I was totally fascinated spending time with her.
Watching her do her nails, hair and makeup .
I have such fond memories of Aunty Phil and she
would Spend hours telling us lots of stories about her travels and work .

She died in 1990 at age 70 ,
Thanks for being you Aunty Phil.
 I miss you xoxo

Published layout in Scrap365

As a Design team member
our brief was to create a layout about Weather
I chose a Summer /Beachy scene .

'Treasure'

I had fun with all this texture .
Gesso, muslin , shells, chippies and paint.

My layout is created on the  7Dots Studio paper /Dreamer collection.
Perfect texture for a summer beachy  theme.
The Australian beach with beautiful soft silky white sands and clear blue ocean,  is a fave place we have family fun with our Grand daughter .  I added texture and elements to mimic the beach .
The hexagon shapes represent the sand castles Ella loves to build.
The tiny shells are placed  among the muslin which represents  seaweed.
The wooden heart is a symbol of the love Ella has for the beach.
My color scheme  is white washed /monochromatic  with the contrast of pink and yellow in the photo .
MATERIALS:
PAPER:
Prima – Printery collection, 7 Dots Studio – Dreamer collection, MaJa designs – Vintage Summer  Basics.
EMBELLISHMENTS:
Tim Holtz - metal name plate ,  Prima - wooden heart ,Green Tara -beige roses, Prima - Metal number , Vintage charms – Brads, 2Crafty –chipboard/hexagon shapes.
STAMPS:
Hero Arts -Treasure , .Hero arts – circle dots, Kaisercraft acrylic stamp – bubbles, Prima acrylic-trellis .
OTHER:
Muslin- tea dyed, shells –found item , versa color ink – black/rose/Khaki,   Cottage cutz-leafy foliage, Golden - White gesso , memory box die cut – Arboscello Tree , Tim Holtz clear crackle paint .

Celebrate

Hello my friends,
today I am showcasing  a festive layout .
I love to use pink on my Christmas pages and this collection of papers blends beautifully with pale pink and deep pink ….. I began with a foundation of white cardstock .
I sprayed ink on my mat and laid the mask over the berry ink, lifted and laid it on my white card
to create random shapes.
wash and  Dry the mask .
Next I laid the same mask over my work and applied fibre paste on the top left and bottom right corner.

I mounted my photo on white card and then began layering with the beautiful rich and velvety Christmas papers .
“ Christmas Berries and Christmas greetings”

I used my leafy die cut to create a cluster with altered metal elements , flower, bling, heart and tag .
I like to build up my clusters to make a focal point on my page and create texture and interest .
 I JOURNALED ABOUT MY PHOTO
“My Famous Berry Icecream Pudding
Which we enjoy every Christmas
I love the rich colors and flavours.”

The recipe is at the bottom of this post .

 Another view of my cluster.
I balanced my design by adding muslin along the left side of my photo , and tied string to the photo with hanging elements .
A small element is placed on the top right hand corner , with a brad and tissue tape .
I cut a half inch from each side of the white card and stitched this to the Christmas Greetings paper, showing the gorgeous skeleton white leaves on the rich burgundy paper, peeping from each edge of  my layout.

Christmas Icecream pudding by Heather
2 tubs (2 litres) of Sara Lea icecream ( Vanilla )
2 almond Magnums
3tblsp rum
Strawberries ( sliced up into really small chunks)
Green glace cherries
Red glace cherries
1 pineapple ring (diced into small chunks)
Blanced almonds flakes
2 tbsp Golden syrup
Frozen berries and nuts for topping

Place chopped Cherries and pineapple in a screw top glass jar and cover with 3 tblsp of rum .
Leave for 2 days before making the pudding .
Process
Spread an inch layer Sara Leah icecream into the base of a rectangle non stick baking tin
(line with greaseproof paper, leaving an overlap to enable yourself to pull
the icecream pudding out , to cut it in slices )
add a layer of 1 smashed almond magnum
drizzle golden syrup thinly
add a layer of the cherry mixture
add a layer of the fresh strawberries
repeat these layers once more, finishing with an extra layer of icecream
top with frozen berries and flaked almonds ( or nuts )
place in feezer for at least 2 days before using.

Depending how large you want the pudding ( and how quickly your family eats it )
you can double the recipe or whatever you desire.
if you don’t want to do the layers, you can mix it all together in a bowl and then place in a lined baking tin. Top with a layer of frozen berries and blanced almond flakes .
I have done it both ways , layers and mixed . both are yummo .

Really it is a flexible recipe which can be added to and changed to whatever you fancy at the time .
Enjoy and have fun xoox

see you soon

Dakota, I hope you always remember to be yourself.
keep your dreams alive.
If you water yourself down to please people or fit in or not to offend anyone
you lose the power, the passion and the joy of being UNIQUELY YOU .
When you are being yourself and doing the THINGS you enjoy and love
It is much easier to love yourself .
I love you just the way you are .

Remembering Christmas Farm Stays

Hello and a warm welcome
 TO YOU ALL
today I am sharing a layout I created with the new
Christmas collection from
Deep and velvety colors reminding me of the richness of Christmas memories .

'REMEMBER '

I have fond memories  of our childhood Holidays on the farm .
Our favourite Aunt Sylvia had a farm  a few kilometres out of Naracoorte,
at a place called Lochaber .
As children, my twin sister and I spent a great deal of time in the school holidays on the farm with Auntie Sylvia.
She had a pianola which we played constantly, it is a wonder we didn’t drive her crazy !!
Such amazing memories with milking cows, table tennis, music, singing, late nights, laughter, delicious food, great company.  Auntie Sylvia really was the best !!! love these memories x

I cut the leafy dies and flowers with assorted papers
and twisted them around the chipboard door .
I adore the finished effect when cutting dies with these papers, as I never know what colors will be in the cut pieces … this makes my layouts very organic and unique .

The chipboard door is altered by painting with gesso first . The Next step is adding the  ink. I used lime, slate and burgundy. I finished of the effect  with Tim Holtz crackle paint .
My aim was to mimic  an old broken down door to the potting shed on the farm.

A cluster of elements, including the white paper flowers and more of the dies twisting their way around my page .
By looking closely you may spy the Tim Holtz metal name plate which I altered in the same manner as the door .
